Wait… a PPL project turned into an actual thing? 🧵🌊

This time last year, the 2025 Ambassadors had just showcased their projects and were offered the opportunity to transform them into something bigger.

One of the projects chosen was made by Aaishah from Sarah Bonnell School.

The original project 🌊

Aaishah created a handmade felt storybook showing how pollution affects marine life.

Using felt, thread and loads of patience, she brought beaches full of plastic and oceans full of rubbish to life through storytelling. It was playful, powerful, and super creative!

Bringing the story to life 🎬

To help more people experience her original project, we worked with Aaishah to turn her felt book into a stop-motion animation based on her story.

She shared the meaning behind it, helped shape the storytelling, and brought the project into a whole new format.

Check out the stop-motion we created together 👇

The next-level idea 💡

Instead of stopping there, Aaishah asked: 'What if other young people could make their own stories for nature too?'.

So now her original project is being transformed into…

Thread A Story 🧵✨: A felt storybook kit designed to help young people create, stitch and share their own stories about nature, animals, pollution, or places they care about.

What’s she been up to?

Behind the scenes, Aaishah has been collaborating with Kat from BE, and other creative professionals. Together they’ve been..

  • choosing what should go inside the kit

  • testing designs

  • making it easy and fun to use

  • building mock-ups

  • shaping the final look and feel

  • turning one idea into something real

Hear Aaishah talk about the journey so far 👇

And check out a sneak peek of the kit concept here.

What happens next? 🚀

Next up, we’ll be:

  • building the final prototype

  • making last tweaks

  • sending it into production

  • sharing it with young creatives

Interested in getting a Thread a Story Kit when it’s ready?!

Why we rate this 👏

  • Aaishah didn’t wait to be older.

  • Didn’t wait to be an expert.

  • Didn’t wait for “the right time”.

She made something creative about something that matters. Then kept going.
