We believe the greatest challenge of our time is a deep disconnect: from nature, from each other, and from the belief that we can make a difference.
At Bertha Earth, we are reigniting a great love for our planet by creating opportunities for young people to reconnect with the natural world and sharing the stories and ideas that matter to them. Through this they discover that when we feel connected, we are far more likely to care, lead and take action.
What we do
Our fully-funded programmes provide opportunities for young people aged 11–18 to deepen their connection with the natural world, themselves, and each other.
Through immersive experiences, storytelling, and environmental learning, they develop the tools, confidence, and compassion to share their stories, champion the issues they care about, and take meaningful action for people and the planet.

Why this matters
Increased nature connectedness in young people is shown to:
Improve mental wellbeing, resilience and lower stress
Foster greater responsibility and care for the planet
Create a deeper sense of belonging in the natural world
Increase the likelihood of taking environmental action
Where it began
In 2018, our founder Tony attended a nature conference where three young people stepped onto stage to speak about the climate crisis and stunned the room into silence. Their honesty, urgency and powerful frustration about the state of the world left a lasting impact.
Walking away that day, Tony couldn’t stop thinking: if three young people can have that kind of impact, imagine what thousands could do with the right support, spaces and opportunities.
That moment became the spark for what we now know as Bertha Earth.

FOR SCHOOLS
Ambassadors Programme
A year-long environmental journey for 11-13 year olds.

FOR TEACHERS
Training Academy
A transformative training experience to learn to deliver our programme.
Today, we work with schools across London, Kent and the south coast of England. Together we enable young people to step outside the classroom, build connections and experience the natural world in hands-on, memorable ways – while growing a movement that places young people at the heart of environmental change.
“Imagine what thousands of young people with the right platform and support could do...”
Tony, Bertha Earth Founder
Stay connected
A few times a year we share a bumper behind-the-scenes update of what our team, young people and partners have been up to – and other news from around the Bertha Earth ecosystem.
