Programme
A transformative journey
The Ambassadors Programme is a fully-funded opportunity currently for young people between the ages of 11 and 13 attending state schools. The year-long journey gives young people the opportunity to step beyond the day-to-day classroom experience and connect more deeply with nature, themselves and each other.

From interactive school workshops to wading through creeks or sharing stories around a campfire, young people explore the natural world in new and meaningful ways. Along the way, they build leadership skills, grow their self-awareness, develop new friendships, and discover how their actions can positively shape the world around them.

Learning to see themselves as part of nature, deepening their connection to the natural world and their desire to care for it.
Care for Themselves and Others
Practicing self-care, self-awareness and teamwork tools that build resilience, foster empathy and serve them for life.

Taking action themselves builds the belief that they can make a real difference in their schools, communities and beyond.

The programme journey
In-School Workshops
Ambassadors take part in a series of in-school workshops led by dedicated teachers and facilitators. Through environmental learning, self-care practices, storytelling, and practical skills, they explore local and global issues while building the confidence, resilience, and agency to thrive throughout the programme and beyond.

A Day of Nature Connection
Ambassadors take part in a one-day trip with our programme partners working at the forefront of environmental education. This is an immersive, nature-based experience to kick-start the programme for a young person and their cohort.

Environmental Action
Ambassadors prepare and deliver a project addressing an environmental issue aligned with their values, passions, and interests. They document their journey to create a powerful story using whatever medium they most connect with.
Storytelling Day
With partners like Central Film School, storytelling days let Ambassadors get hands-on understanding how stories can inspire action. They work on a creative project that blends environment, activism and their own voices.
Celebration
Celebrating personal and group success is an integral part of the programme. Ambassadors come together at the end of the first year to share their journey, experiences, and projects.

Retreat
Ambassadors take part in a five-day residential retreat in a rural setting, typically in groups of 15–30. Alongside helping with the daily running of the farm, the emphasis is on connecting with nature, building relationships, and developing leadership skills.
Who is it for?
The programme is designed for Year 7 and Year 8 students and can be delivered in different ways depending on the school. In some schools, a group of up to 30 young people take part in the year-long journey – in others, the programme is delivered across the entire year group.

We are looking for young people who care about our planet, are curious about the role they can play in creating positive change, and are willing to commit the time and effort needed. There is no financial contribution required from students or their families to participate in the programme.
Working together
Every Bertha Earth partnership is built around collaboration. Our experienced facilitators work alongside schools to plan, deliver and continually improve our programme. Whether we're co-delivering sessions with teaching staff or supporting teachers to lead the programme independently, we'll provide the training, resources and ongoing guidance needed to make it a success.
